On January 10, Abdullah, King of Saudi Arabia, met with visiting Chinese Commerce Minister Chen Deming.

Abdullah said that Saudi Arabia and China enjoyed profound traditional friendship, being true to each other, and that the strategic friendly relations had been consolidated and deepened. China's economy developed rapidly, and the two countries should further their cooperation in tackling with the financial crisis and in other fields. Currently, Sandi was stepping up construction in the fields of petroleum, infrastructure, education, health etc. So Sandi welcomed China's enterprises to actively participate in such construction and believed that the trade and economic cooperation between the two countries has a bright future.

Chen said that Chinese President Hu Jintao last year had paid a successful visit to Saudi Arabia which vigorously boosted the development of the economic and trade cooperation of the two countries. This year marked the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Sandi Arabia. Chinese government was expecting to expand the bilateral economic and trade cooperation, try to boost bilateral trade to US$60 billion by 2015. Meanwhile, Chinese government appreciated the trust of the King and the government of Sandi Arabia in China's enterprises and will actively provide full support for the contracting projects, investment and cooperation in the fields of electronic power, railway, and new energy of the enterprises from China and Sandi Arabia.
